Luis as a saxophonist has an eclectic style of playing which is a culmination of his travels and performing throughout the world. From his raspy in your face tone and melodic solo's reminiscent of the blues bands he played with in Cheyenne Wyoming to the rhythmic playing of his Latin culture. Luis Alas is a consummate professional dedicated to his craft and always looking to enhance whomever he is performing with.
In his freshman album Luis is bringing a unique style which as the album name “Shades of My Soul”, combines all the styles and rhythms that have formed him as a musician and person. Luis states: “I hate labels and don’t fall under a Jazz Purist, rather I play through feelings and try to express myself through my music and instrument. Some may label it as pop others say its commercial but its more about all the styles that have formed me. I love music in all its facets and try to fuse these styles to give the listener a better understanding of me as an artist and a person and I hope they enjoy the ride"

As great as his love for music Luis has a passion for people and bringing them into a relationship with God. Through his music and testimony of restoration Luis can speak to the young and not so young about the trials and tribulations of his life and how God through His grace and mercy has seen him through much and given his life victory.
As a clinician Luis speaks to mid-level students to Master Classes on music development, style, tone and the creation of music which is reflective of each individual musician.
